Split Green Gram / Moong Dal Pakoda


SPLIT GREEN GRAM / MOONG DAL PAKODA




An easy and quick fritter recipe. Moong dal pakoda is an ideal evening snack which taste great with a cup of tea or coffee. 

Ingredients:

1. Split moong dal- 1 cup
2. Chopped onion- 1
3. Coriander leaves- 1 tbsp
4. Chopped ginger- 1 tsp
5. Green chilli- 1 tbsp
6. Asafoetida / kayam- 1/8 tsp
7. Salt- as needed
8. Cooking soda- 1/2 tsp
9. Rice flour- 1 tbsp
10. Oil- for frying

Soak moong dal for 4 to 5 hours. Drain and transfer into a blender. Grind it into a fine paste. Do not add water. Add 1 tbsp of water if you feel its too thick and its unable to grind. Transfer into a mixing bowl and add onion, coriander leaves, ginger, green chilli, kayam, salt, cooking soda and rice flour. Mix well.

Heat oil. Drop spoonful of the thick batter into the oil and fry until crispy and golden brown. Drain on an absorbent paper.

Serve hot with chutney or tomato sauce.
