Malabari Paal Puttu
MALABARI PAAL PUTTU
A delicious snack or breakfast recipe from Malabar cuisine. Every malayali loves puttu. This is a sweet version of the Kerala puttu. Easy and quick to make. A perfect recipe for a day when you are lazy to cook a side dish.
Ingredients:
1. Rice flour / Puttu podi- 1 cup
2. Milk powder- 1/2 cup
3. Salt- 1/4 tsp
4. Milk- 1 to 2 tbsp
5. Sugar- 2 tbsp
6. Grated coconut- 1/2 cup
In a mixing bowl, mix rice flour, 2 tbsp of milk powder and salt. Add milk and make a crumble. Sprinkle some water and mix well with your hand. Consistency should be like the usual puttu flour. It should be wet but not too much soggy.
Mix grated coconut, rest of the milk powder and sugar.
In a puttu maker or puttu kutti, put a layer of coconut mix and fill some rice flour mix. Top it again with coconut mix followed by rice flour mix. Continue till its filled completely.
Cook in a steamer till done.
Serve hot with Kerala small banana.
