Karahi Chicken


KARAHI CHICKEN




Chicken Karahi is a common dish from India and Pakistan and is noted for its spicy taste. This curry has an incredible flavor and its easy to prepare.

Ingredients:

1. Chicken- 1/2 kg
2. Oil- 1 tbsp
3. Coconut milk- 1 cup
4. Cashew nuts- 12
5. Cumin seeds- 1 tsp
6. Red chilli- 3
7. Onion- 2
8. Ginger garlic paste- 1 1/2 tbsp
9. Salt- as needed
10. Green chilli- 2
11. Curry leaves- 1 spring
12. Tomato- 1
13. Chilli powder- 1/2 tbsp
14. Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
15. Coriander powder- 1 1/2 tbsp
16. Garam masala- 1/2 tsp

Soak cashew nuts in coconut milk for 10 minutes. Grind it into a fine paste and dilute in coconut milk.

Heat oil in a pan. Roast cumin and red chilli. Add onion and saute till it turns light golden. Add ginger garlic paste, green chilli, salt, curry leaves and tomato. Saute till tomato turns mushy. Mix chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and garam masala. Saute till oil appears. Add chicken and mix well. Pour 1/2 cup of water and cook till the chicken is done. Mix cashew coconut milk and stir well. Boil for 2 minutes and turn off the flame.

Serve hot as a side dish.
