Fried Rava / Semolina Pathiri
FRIED RAVA PATHIRI
Crispy and delicious poricha rava pathiri is a common breakfast in Malabar. It is easy to make and very tasty to eat. Its usually served with some spicy non-vegetarian curry. But it also taste yum as a snack.
Ingredients:
1. Roasted semolina- 1 cup
2. Coconut oil- 1 tsp
3. Shallots- 2
4. Cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp
5. Black sesame seeds- 1 tsp
6. Salt- as needed
7. Water- 1 1/2 cup
8. Oil- for frying
Heat coconut oil. Add sliced shallots, cumin and sesame. Roast well. Pour water and add salt. Bring it to a boil. Add semolina when water starts boiling and mix well to avoid forming lumps. Mix till it forms into a soft and smooth dough. Switch off the flame. Make balls and flatten into discs of 0.5 cm thickness.
Heat oil and deep fry pathiri till light golden.
Serve hot.
