Dry Soya Manchurian


DRY SOYA MANCHURIAN




This is a popular manchurian recipe from Indo-Chinese cuisine or Indian street food. It is delicious and nutritious with the protein rich soya chunks.

Ingredients:

1. Soya chunks- 20
2. All purpose flour- 3 tbsp
3. Corn flour- 3 tbsp + 2 tsp
4. Pepper powder- 1 tsp
5. Salt- as needed
6. Oil- as required
7. Chopped garlic- 1 tsp
8. Chopped ginger- 1 tsp
9. Green chilli- 2
10. Onion- 2
11. Capsicum- 1
12. Soy sauce- 2 tbsp
13. Chilli sauce- 1 tbsp
14. Sugar- 1/2 tsp
15. Coriander leaves- 1 tbsp

Soak soya chunks in water for 40 minutes. Squeeze water out and keep it aside.

In a bowl, mix flour, 3 tbsp of corn flour, 1/2 tsp of pepper powder and salt. Pour some water and make a medium consistency batter. Dip soya chunks in this prepared batter and deep fry in hot oil till golden. Drain and keep it aside.

Chop onion and capsicum into medium sized cubes.

Heat 1 tbsp of oil. Slightly roast ginger and garlic. Add onion and green chilli. Saute till wilted and add capsicum. Saute for 2 minutes. Mix soy sauce and chilli sauce. Pour 3/4 cup of water and bring it to boil. Add sugar, 1/2 tsp of pepper powder and mix well. Dilute 2 tsp of corn flour in 1/4 cup of water and pour it into the boiling gravy. Once the gravy becomes thick, add fried soya chunks and coriander leaves. Mix well and cook for 2 minutes or till it becomes dry.

Serve hot.
