Red Chilli Coconut Chutney
RED CHILLI COCONUT CHUTNEY
This Kerala style chutney makes a good accompaniment with dosa, idli, vada etc. It is delectable and spicy.
Ingredients:
1. Grated coconut- 1/2 cup
2. Roasted chana dal / split chickpeas- 1/4 cup
3. Salt- as needed
4. Ginger- 1 tsp
5. Garlic- 3
6. Tamarind- 1 tsp
7. Red chilli- 3
8. Coconut oil- 1 tbsp
9. Mustard- 1 tsp
10. Cumin- 1 tsp
11. Asafoetida / kayam- pinch
12. Curry leaves- 1 spring
Grind coconut, chana dal, ginger, garlic, tamarind, red chilli and salt into a fine paste adding some water.
Heat coconut oil. Splutter mustard and cumin. Add kayam and curry leaves. Switch off the flame and pour it over the chutney. Mix well.
Serve with dosa, idli, vada etc.
Notes:
You can increase the number of red chilli if you want your chutney to be more spicy.
