Puthina (Mint Leaves) Sev
PUTHINA (MINT LEAVES) SEV
Puthina sev is delicious, flavorful and healthy; prepared by adding freshly ground mint juice to gram flour. This is a tasty and crunchy snack that can be served with your evening tea or coffee. Puthina sev or mint leaves mixture is a popular snack all over India.
Ingredients:
1. Gram flour- 1 cup
2. Mint leaves- 1 cup
3. Green chilli- 3
4. Melted butter- 1 tsp
5. Salt- as needed
6. Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
7. Asafoetida- 1/2 tsp
8. Oil- for frying
Blend mint and green chilli together into a fine paste. Squeeze out or strain down the juice and keep it aside.
Into a large mixing bowl, add gram flour, salt, turmeric powder, asafoetida and melted butter. Pour mint juice and knead it into a soft and smooth dough.
Heat oil. Fill the sev maker with the dough and press it down into the hot oil. Cook in medium flame until done. Drain on an absorbent paper and let it rest for 3 minutes before serving.
Enjoy.
Notes:
Apply little oil to your hands to prevent sticking of the dough.
