Keema Matar / Mutton mince with Green Peas


KEEMA MATAR / MUTTON MINCE WITH GREEN PEAS




Keema Matar is a delicious dish from the Indian subcontinent associated with the Mughals. It is a staple curry in most of the  households of Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Ingredients:

1. Keema / Mutton mince- 1/2 kg
2. Ghee- 2 tbsp
3.Cumin- 1 tsp
4. Bay leaf- 2
5. Clove- 4
6. Cinnamon- 1/2 inch piece
7. Peppercorns- 4
8. Cardamon- 1
9. Chopped onion- 1 cup
10. Ginger paste- 1 tsp
11. Garlic paste- 1 tsp
12. Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
13. Chilli powder- 2 tsp
14. Chopped tomato- 2
15. Coriander powder- 1 tbsp
16. Green chilli- 2
17. Coriander leaves- 2 tbsp
18. Semi cooked / frozen green peas- 1 cup
19. Salt- as needed
20. Oil- 2 tbsp

Heat oil in a pan. Roast cumin, bay leaf, cinnamon, cardamon, clove and peppercorns. Add onion, ginger, green chilli and garlic. Saute till wilted. Mix chilli powder, turmeric powder and coriander powder. Saute for 1 minute or till oil appears. Add tomato and saute till it turns mushy. Mix mince and green peas. Add seasoning. Cook in medium flame till the mince looks fried. Mix ghee. Stir occasionally. Lastly, garnish with coriander leaves and switch off the flame.

Serve hot with roti, naan etc
