Flattened Rice / Aval Appam


FLATTENED RICE / AVAL APPAM




Aval appam is a yummy and healthy breakfast dish that can go well with any curry of your choice. It is soft and delicious.

Ingredients:

1. Flattened rice / Aval- 1 cup
2. White rice / Pachari- 2 cup
3. Yeast- 1/2 tsp
4. Sugar- 1 tbsp
5. Salt- as needed

Soak rice for 3 hours.

Soak aval in hot water for 15 minutes.

Add soaked rice, aval, sugar and yeast into a blender. Grind well into a medium consistency batter adding enough water. Transfer batter into a large bowl and keep it aside for fermenting. Let it sit untouched for at least 4 hours.

Add salt into the fermented batter and mix well. 

Heat a pan. Pour a ladle full of batter and keep it closed till half cooked. Flip and cook on the other side untill done.

Serve hot with any curry of your choice.
