Onion Tomato Chutney


ONION TOMATO CHUTNEY




This is a famous south Indian chutney recipe made with onion and tomato as the stars. It is very delicious and can be served as a side for almost all south Indian breakfast dishes.

Ingredients:

1. Onion- 2
2. Tomato- 2
3. Tamarind- 1 tsp
4. Water- as required
5. Oil- 1 tbsp
6. Urad dal / Uzhunn- 1 tsp
7. Red Chilli- 6
8. Asafoetida / kayam- pinch
9. Salt- as needed
10. Mustard- 1 tsp
11. Curry leaves- 1 spring

Soak tamarind in 2 tbsp of water.

Heat 1/2 tbsp of oil in a pan. Roast urad dal and 4 number of Red Chilli. Add Onion and saute till wilted. Add Tomato and cook till it turns mushy. Mix asafoetida and switch off the flame. Let it cool down completely. Transfer this into a blender. Along with this, add salt and tamarind with the water into the blender. Grind it well into a chutney paste. Add more water if required. Transfer the chutney into a serving dish.

Heat 1/2 tbsp of oil in a pan. Splutter mustard. Add 2 number of red chilli and curry leaves. Slightly fry them and pour it into the prepared chutney. Mix well.

Serve hot as a side for your breakfast.
