Gobi Manchurian


GOBI MANCHURIAN




Gobi Manchurian is an Indian Chinese fried Cauliflower recipe which is very popular in India. It is super delicious and can be served as a side with anything and everything. 

Ingredients:

1. Cauliflower florets- 3 cup
2. All purpose flour- 1/2 cup
3. Ginger garlic paste- 2 tsp
4. Salt- as needed
5. Corn flour- 2 tbsp
6. Pepper powder- 1 1/2 tsp
7. Oil- as required
8. Onion- 1 cup
9. Capsicum- 1
10. Green chilli- 3
11. Tomato sauce- 1 tbsp
12. Soy sauce- 1 tbsp
13. Chilli sauce- 1/2 tbsp
14. Coriander leaves- 1 tbsp
15. Spring onion- for garnish
16. Chilli powder- 1 tsp
17. Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp

Chop onion and capsicum into medium sized cubes. 

Mix cauliflower with turmeric powder and a pinch of salt. Microwave for 1 minute and toss well. Microwave again for 1 minute and toss well. Repeat the procedure till you get a nice aroma or till it looks slightly wilted. Keep it aside. 

In a mixing bowl, add flour, 1 1/2 tbsp of corn flour, salt, 1/2 tsp of pepper powder and 1/2 tsp of ginger garlic paste. Pour water and make a medium consistency batter. Dip florets in this batter and deep fry in hot oil till golden. Drain on an absorbent paper. 

Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan. Add onion, capsicum, green chilli and 1 1/2 tsp of ginger garlic paste. Slightly saute it and add chilli powder. Saute for 1 minute. Add tomato sauce, chilli sauce, soy sauce and 1/2 tsp of pepper powder. Mix well. Adjust seasoning. Mix 1/2 tbsp of corn flour in 1/4 cup of water and pour it to the curry. Stir well and bring it to boil. Add fried cauliflower and coriander leaves. Mix well. Cook for 2 minutes. The gravy should coat around the cauliflower. Switch off the flame and garnish with spring onion. 

Serve hot.


Notes:

Instead of microwaving cauliflower, you can also cook it in a steamer for 3 to 5 minutes.
