Coconut Chana Dal Chutney


COCONUT CHANA DAL CHUTNEY




Coconut and roasted Chana Dal Chutney is a delicious side for Dosa and Idli. It taste the best and lends a good aroma. 

Ingredients:

1. Grated coconut- 1 cup
2. Roasted Chana Dal- 1/4 cup
3. Ginger- 1/2 inch piece
4. Garlic- 2
5. Green Chilli- 2
6. Curry leaves- 1 spring
7. Salt- as needed
8. Water- as needed
9. Oil- 1 tbsp
10. Mustard- 1 tsp
11. Cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp
12. Red Chilli- 2
13. Asafoetida- pinch

Grind Coconut, Chana, Ginger, Garlic, Green Chilli, salt and Curry leaves to a paste adding enough water. It should not be very loose. It has a thick consistency. Move it into a bowl.

Heat oil. Splutter Mustard and Cumin. Add Red Chilli and slightly roast it. Switch off the flame and mix Asafoetida. Pour it over the prepared chutney and stir well.

Serve with Idli, Dosa, Vada etc.
