Tomato Fish Curry
TOMATO FISH CURRY
One of the most common fish curry recipe in Kerala. Here I have made it with a twist by grinding the Tomatoes with the spices and thereby enhancing the flavors to a higher note. It is delicious, easy to make and can be paired with Rice, Putt, Appam etc.
Ingredients:
1. Fish- 1/2 kg
2. Coconut oil- 1 tbsp
3. Shallots- 8
4. Ginger- 2 tsp
5. Green Chilli- 2
6. Tomato- 2
7. Chilli powder- 2 tsp
8. Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
9. Coriander powder- 2 tsp
10. Cumin powder- 1/4 tsp
11. Fenugreek powder- 1/4 tsp
12. Curry leaves- 1 spring
13. Water- 1/2 cup
14. Salt- as needed
15. Coconut milk- 3/4 cup
Grind Tomato, Turmeric powder, Chilli powder, Coriander powder and Cumin powder to a thick paste.
Heat oil. Slightly saute Shallots, Ginger and Green Chilli. Pour the Tomato paste and cook till oil starts appearing. Pour water and bring it to boil. Add fish and Fenugreek powder. Mix well and cook the fish well. Once the fish is cooked through and the gravy is almost dry, pour the Coconut milk and give a good stir. Add Curry leaves. Mix well. Cook to the right gravy consistency and switch off the flame.
Serve hot with Rice, Putt etc.
