Samak Koufta / Emirati Fish Cake
SAMAK KOUFTA / EMIRATI FISH CAKE
Samak Koufta is an Emirati dish with mild flavors. It is basically a fish cake.
Ingredients:
1. Boneless fish cubes- 1/2 kg
2. Chopped Onion- 1
3. Oil- as required
4. Egg- 1
5. Chopped Parsley- 1/2 cup
6. Chopped Garlic- 4
7. Bread crumbs- 1 1/4 cup
8. Salt- as required
9. Lime juice- 1/2 tbsp
10. Pepper powder- 1 tsp
11. Vinegar- 1 tsp
12. Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
13. Baking powder- 1 tsp
14. Cumin power- 1/2 tsp
Heat 1 tsp of oil in a pan. Saute Onion till it turns light golden.
Mince boneless fish cubes.
In a mixing bowl, Add minced fish, sauteed Onion, beaten Egg, Parsley, Garlic, 1 cup Bread crumbs, salt, Lime juice, Pepper powder, Vinegar, Turmeric powder, Baking powder and Cumin powder. Combine well. Make small patties and roll each of them in bread crumbs.
Heat oil enough to shallow fry the patties. Shallow fry each patty till golden brown and nicely done from inside. Drain on a kitchen towel.
Serve warm with ketchup.
