Chicken Shashlik


CHICKEN SHASHLIK




Shashlik is basically like a Kebab or skewered meat and is a dish that is popular in Central and South Asia. This recipe has a slight Chinese style twist added to it. It is so delicious and can be served as an appetizer or can be a hit for BBQ or any picnic.

Ingredients:

1. Boneless Chicken Cubes- 1/2 kg
2. Chilli powder- 1 tsp
3. Pepper powder- 1/2 tsp
4. Tomato ketchup- 7 tbsp
5. Worcestershire sauce- 2 tbsp
6. Ginger Garlic paste- 1 tbsp
7. Salt- as needed
8. Wooden Skewers
9. Onion- 2
10. Capsicum- 2
11. Tomato- 2
12. Vinegar- 4 tbsp
13. Garlic paste- 1 tbsp
14. Sugar- 1 tsp
15. Oil- 2 tbsp
16. Olive oil- as needed

Marinate Chicken with 1/2 tsp of Chilli powder, salt, Ginger Garlic paste, 2 tbsp of Tomato ketchup, Worcestershire sauce and Pepper powder. Refrigerate overnight.

Cut Capsicum and Tomato into halves and remove seeds.  Cut the flesh into 3 cm pieces. Cut Onion into quarters and separate the layers.

For the sauce, mix together Vinegar, 5 tbsp of Tomato ketchup, 1/2 tsp Chilli powder, Sugar, 1 tsp Salt, Garlic paste and oil in a bowl. Blend it well and keep aside.

Skew Chicken and Vegetables closely on skewers. For faster melting Chicken, always skew Tomato piece after Chicken. Grill on a grill pan or a normal simple frying pan greased with Olive oil. When Chicken starts changing color, brush the sauce on it and cook on every sides evenly. Cook till Chicken melts properly and the vegetables are soft enough. This will take approximately 10 minutes. 

Serve hot and enjoy.
