Wheat Idiyappam / Wheat String Hoppers
WHEAT IDIYAPPAM / WHEAT STRING HOPPERS
Idiyappam / Noolputt / String Hoppers is a traditional Kerala breakfast made of Rice flour. Here in this recipe we are substituting Rice flour with Wheat flour or Atta. Healthy breakfast always goes a longer way!! It is very easy to make and pairs with any curry of your choice.
Ingredients:
1. Wheat flour / Atta- 2 cup
2. Hot water- as required
3. Oil- 1 tsp
4. Salt- as required
5. Grated Coconut- 1/2 cup
Roast Wheat flour well stirring continuously. It will become light golden.
Add Salt to the Wheat flour. Pour hot water and Oil. Knead a soft and smooth dough.
Take a small portion of the dough and fill it inside the Idiyappam maker. Sprinkle some Coconut on the plate in which you are making the Idiyappam. Spin or squeeze the Idiyappam maker on to the plate. Sprinkle some more Coconut on top.
Cook in a steamer for 10 minutes.
Do not serve it as soon s you take it out of the steamer. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Healthy and tasty Wheat String Hoppers are ready.
