Prawns Appam / Chemmeen Appam


CHEMMEEN APPAM / PRAWNS APPAM




Chemmeen Appam is perfect for a weekend breakfast. It is appetizing and the fragrance of Prawns is so tempting that you cannot stop having it. 

Ingredients:

1. Prawns- 1/3 cup
2. Chilli powder- 1 tsp
3. Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
4. Garam masala- 1/2 tsp  
5. Ginger Garlic paste- 1 tsp
6. Salt- as required
7. Lime juice- 1/2 lime
8. Oil- 1 tbsp
9. Pachari / White Rice- 1 cup
10. Cooked Rice- 1/4 cup 
11. Water- as required

Soak White Rice for 5 hours.

Marinate Prawns with Chilli powder, Turmeric powder, Garam masala, Ginger Garlic paste, Lime juice and salt. Let it rest for 30 minutes. Slightly fry it in 1/2 tbsp of oil.

Grind soaked Rice, cooked Rice and fried Prawns adding enough water to make a batter (medium thickness). Adjust salt.

Heat a tawa. Pour a ladle of batter and spread it thin. Top with some oil to make it crispy. 

Serve with any curry which has coconut milk as its base. Prawns Appam also taste good with Chammanthi / Chutney.
