Himachali Chicken / Himachali Tawa Murg


HIMACHALI CHICKEN / HIMACHALI TAWA MURG




This is a Chicken recipe hailing from the State of Himachal Pradesh. A lovely simple Chicken dish with the aroma of spices and its damn tasty. Himachali Chicken pairs well with Roti, Rice etc.

Ingredients:

1. Chicken- 1/2 kg; cut into medium sized peices
2. Curd- 1 cup
3. Fresh cream- 2 tbsp
4. Ginger Garlic paste- 1 tbsp
5. Garam masala- 3 tsp
6. Salt- as required
7. Cinnamon- 1 inch piece
8. Peppercorns- 1 tsp
9. Cumin- 1/2 tsp
10. Cardamon- 6
11. Cloves- 4
12. Bay leaf- 1
13. Oil- 1 tbsp + 1 tsp
14. Coriander leaves- 2 tbsp
15. Red Chilli- 3
16. Lime juice- 1/2 lemon
17. Water- 1/4 cup

In a bowl mix Curd, Fresh Cream, Ginger Garlic paste, Garam masala and salt. Add Chicken and marinate for 1 hour in refrigerator.

Grind Cinnamon, Peppercorns, Cloves, Cardamon, Cumin and Bay leaf into a fine powder.

Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan. Add Chicken and powdered spices. Mix well. Let the Chicken brown slightly from all the sides. Pour water and cook covered till the Chicken becomes tender. Stir occasionally. Once the Chicken is cooked, open the lid and cook till its thick and creamy. Move into a serving bowl.

Heat 1 tsp oil. Saute Coriander leaves and Red Chilli. Pour this over the Chicken. Squeeze Lime juice on top of the Chicken and serve.
