Guggillu / White Chana Sundal / Tempered White Chickpeas


GUGGILLU / WHITE CHANA SUNDAL




This is a South Indian dish made with stir fried White Chickpeas and its a special delicacy during Navaratri. It can be had as an evening snack and also as a side for your Rice. 

Ingredients:

1. White Chickpeas / White Chana- 1 cup
2. Oil- 1 1/2 tsp
3. Mustard- 1/2 tsp
4. Cumin- 1/2 tsp
5. Urad dal- 1/2 tsp
6. Chopped Green Chilli- 2
7. Asafoetida- 1/4 tsp
8. Curry leaves- 1 spring
9. Salt- as required
10. Grated Coconut- 2 tbsp

Soak White Chickpeas well. Adding salt and enough water, cook Chickpeas in pressure cooker. Drain and keep aside.

Heat oil. Splutter Mustard. Roast Cumin and Urad dal. Add Asafoetida, Curry leaves and Green Chilli. Add Chickpeas and stir well. Lastly, mix Coconut and fry for 2 minutes till dry and shiny. 

Protein rich, low fat and healthy Guggillu is ready. Serve warm.
