Green Peas Coconut Milk Curry


GREEN PEAS COCONUT MILK CURRY




The delicious and creamy Kerala style curry made with Green Peas, spices and Coconut milk is a wonderfully simple side dish. Addition of fresh Coconut milk enhances a good aroma to the dish. You can use dried or fresh Green Peas. It pairs well with Appam, Roti etc.

Ingredients:

1. Dried Green Peas- 1 cup
2. Water- as required
3. Coconut oil- 1 tbsp
4. Onion- 2
5. Garlic- 2 tsp
6. Ginger- 2 tsp
7.Green Chilli- 4
8. Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
9. Coriander powder- 2 tsp
10. Fennel powder- 1 tsp
11. Salt- as required
12. Chopped Tomato- 1
13. Coriander leaves- 2 tbsp
14. Thick Coconut milk- 1/2 cup

Soak Green Peas overnight or for 6 to 7 hours.

Cook soaked Green Peas adding enough water and salt in a cooker. Drain and keep aside both the Peas and the stock.

Heat Oil. Saute Onion, Green Chilli, Garlic and Ginger. Add Turmeric powder, Coriander powder and Fennel powder. Saute till oil appears. Switch off the flame and let it cool down completely. 

Once its room temperature grind it into a paste adding the stock. Pour it back it into the pan. Add Tomato and cook in high flame stirring occasionally. Add Peas when the Tomato looks mushy. Mix well. Adjust salt. Pour Coconut milk and combine well. Switch off when its about to boil. Mix Coriander leaves. 

Delicious Green Peas Coconut Milk Curry is ready. Serve warm with Roti, Appam etc.
