Cheesy Garlic Bread

CHEESY GARLIC BREAD

It doesn't get much better than a warm slice of Cheesy Garlic Bread straight from the oven. Somehow it seems to be the perfect side dish for so many recipes. It goes great with soups, salads etc.

Ingredients:

1. All purpose flour- 1 1/4 cup
2. Yeast- 1 1/4 tsp
3. Sugar- 1/2 tbsp
4. Lukewarm water- as required
5. Salt- 1/4 tsp + 1/8 tsp
8. Oil- 1/2 tbsp
9. Butter- 1 tbsp or more
10. Chopped Garlic- 2
11. Cheese grated- 1/4 cup (I use triangle cheese)
12. Oregano- 1/4 tsp

Mix Yeast in 1/8 cup of lukewarm water and Sugar. Keep it for 15 minutes for proofing.

Mix flour, Salt and Oil in a bowl. Add proofed Yeast and mix well. Now add lukewarm water little by little and knead a smooth dough. Knead for at least 6 to 8 minutes. Keep the dough closed for 2 to 3 hours.

In a pan, melt Butter. Add Garlic and a pinch of Salt. Stir well. Switch off the flame and let it cool down.

Once the dough doubles in size, punch it an release the air. Flatten it into a thick bread (0.5 cm thickness) on a floured working space. Smear the Butter-Garlic mix on top and spread cheese. Fold it into semicircle. Slightly press the edges to seal. Transfer this into a baking tray. Cut it into even strips. While making each cut, dip the knife in water so that the dough will not stick to the knife. Brush the remaining Garlic Butter on top. Sprinkle Oregano and keep it aside for 15 minutes.

Preheat oven at 250 C for 12 minutes. After preheating reduce temperature to 200 C and bake the bread for 15 minutes. Once its cooked, take it out of the oven and apply some more Garlic Butter on top.

Serve hot.
